Custom Animated Series Logo Design for Dream Heroes

Dream Heroes is a hand-drawn animated series from Funtagonist, the Finnish studio founded by Lauri Konttori, known for Angry Birds Toons, and producer Jukka Peltola. It follows the Sandmen, who protect people from nightmares, and was released in 2025 on vertical short-form platforms. I designed the logo and icon for the series, along with its logo variations and Season 2 logo. The universe later expanded into a card-battler game.

The Challenge

The series needed a logo that captured its mix of heroic adventure and the magical world of dreams. It had to remain recognizable at small sizes on vertical short-form platforms, with a standalone icon that could represent the series beyond the full wordmark.

The Design Approach

I started with grayscale 3D sketches to explore the wordmark: bold, angled lettering with depth, and a crescent moon in place of the O in HEROES to signal the night-time world of dreams.

The goal was an iconic logo paired with an icon for the series. The final logo uses glossy, icy-blue 3D lettering with a starry texture, like moonlight. Beneath it, a winged sword emblem echoes the Sandmen's role as guardians against nightmares.

I then built a full logo kit: an outlined version for dark or busy backgrounds, a one-color flat version, the emblem as a standalone icon, and a vertical lockup for narrow layouts.

The Logo on the Key Art

The logo was built to sit on the series' own artwork. On the key art, the glossy blue lettering contrasts with the purple night sky and the cast of heroes and nightmare creatures around it. On darker scenes, the one-color flat version keeps the logo clean and readable.

The Logo System

To make the logo easy to use across the series and the game, I prepared it in several forms: the standalone winged-sword emblem as an icon, a one-color flat version, and a set of lockups that includes a vertical version.

Season 2

Season 2 uses the same logo with a numeral 2 added beneath it.

The Logo in Use

The logo appears across the Dream Heroes universe, from the animated series to the game demo on itch.io, a playful tactical card battler that expands the world beyond the screen.
